Why is a milking robot an addition to your farm?

physical complaints in the long run.

● With more free time and more flexible deployment of the farmer.

● With an up-to-date and digital insight into all cows in the barn.

● With an appropriate budget and high-quality machinery.

This makes it possible to easily increase labour efficiency and reduce personal dependence/attendance to be reduced. In addition, the milking robot provides tremendous insight into results and thus management information on which the entrepreneur can steer towards optimal management.

How exactly does a milking robot work?

A milk robot, also called an automatic milking system (AMS), is a milking machine in which a cow is milked fully automatically. This is in contrast to the more traditional milking parlours where the milking of the cow must be done by humans themselves. A milking robot milks about 2,000 liters per day. Depending on the production of the cows, the milking speed and the settings of the robot, this can be more or less.

Below you can read step by step how a milking robot works:

1. The cow steps into the milking robot and then only has to patiently wait and enjoy some chunks. This is also the reason why a cow regularly stops by in the milking robot. The milking robot then cleans the udders and attaches the milk cups to the four teats of the udder.

2. Each cow is recognized by the machine. This allows the results to be recorded and each cow is accurately monitored. This includes how much milking the cow does, the cow's temperature, and the measure of the fat and protein content.

3. This milking system's success depends on the cows' motivation. A cow that eats a balanced diet and ruminates a lot, is active and feels like walking to the robot walk. And the healthier the cow, the greater that chance. As a farmer, it is important to continue to monitor the cows in the barn in addition to the performance of the milking robot.

4. A milking robot is a fixed arrangement of about 1 by 6 meters. To save costs save costs, some manufacturers use the robot section for multiple cubicles. When the cow is connected to the first cubicle, the robot moves on to the next cubicle. This allows the user to purchase only one robot for up to five cubicles. This technique can be applied in a tandem arrangement, where the cows stand behind each other and in a mirror arrangement, where a maximum of two cows stand side by side. Based on the size of the herd, the number of milking robots is determined. For small farms, one stall with a milking robot may be sufficient to serve the entire herd; one milking robot can milk about 65 to 70 cows three times a day. If the cows also go out to pasture, 50 cows are the maximum.

5. The milk goes from the machine directly toward a large storage tank. Depending on the Depending on the size of the tank, up to about 35,000 liters of milk can be stored here. The milk is cooled to 4 degrees in this tank. In this way, all the taste, quality nutritional value.

Frequently asked questions:

What are the benefits of free cow traffic?

Cows always have free access to the milking robot, feed fence and cubicles. The cows never have to wait a long time in the waiting area and thus have more time to eat, lie down, rest, and drink. If something goes wrong somewhere, for example in the amount of milk or management, you notice this very quickly in the number of robot visits. There is less/no risk that cows block passages or selection gates or that cow traffic is disturbed by a defect.

Is a robot energy efficient?

On average, a milking robot's water and electricity consumption is higher than that of conventional milking systems. However, good management can help reduce this. Furthermore, a milking robot can also be better combined with solar panels or a pocket digester, for example, which can reduce costs.

Can grazing be applied?

Yes, that is possible with a pasture selection gate.

Are robots compatible with my barn situation?

Milking robots are always applicable in any barn situation.

Can milking robots also be leased?

Yes, this is certainly possible through the dealers.
